These train messages continue for hours. They slowly trail off as time goes on and finally, around the time Egon and Ray arrive at the station, they stop entirely as Venkman navigates the crowds, trying to keep his eyes peeled.
He's... anxious doesn't even begin to cover it. His hands keep shaking from nervous energy, both from the prospect of seeing Ray again and seeing this Egon in person for the first time. The train ride helped distract him from a while, but now, so close to meeting up, Venkman feels like he's gonna pass out. And only partially from the rib pain.
And then-]
Ray?
[Hey, he heard him! Venkman pushes his way through the crowd in the general direction of Ray's voice.]
[Egon turns to look in the direction that his name is called, expression unreadable. Despite the cacophony of the crowd, he can still hear his heart thudding in his chest so loudly that he wonders if Ray can hear it, too. Hear the nerves that have built up in his chest over the past few minutes. That would be ridiculous, though. Illogical thoughts fueled by idle unscientific emotions--
He scans the crowd for any familiar faces, gripping Ray's shoulder. Faraday floats up a little higher, peering curiously at the people passing by. She waves an arm and makes a sharp noise, catching Egon's attention as she gestures towards--]
Peter!
[He grabs Ray's hand and starts trying to tug him along, setting off at a brisk walk which then turns into a full on sprint, pushing past incoming traffic without so much as a second thought.]
[Oh thank goodness he's here! Ray practically jumps for joy at hearing Venkman's voice, even if he can't see him yet.
He's surprised to see Egon grab his hand, and even more to hear him shouting out for Peter, but he happily takes it as he pushes through the crowd, waving his free hand into the air in hopes that Venkman sees it.]
[Venkman's voice gets more frantic as he hears Egon call for him- and then he sees Ray, just a few feet away.
And, ok, maybe he gets a little too excited.]
Ray!
[And he's just making a fucking beeline for Ray. Who cares about anyone in between him and his boyfriends, who cares about being anxious or about people being around to watch them, what matters is Ray is right there and so is Egon and Venkman's not really sure what his plan of action is right now but he needs to be in Ray's arms right fucking now.]
[When he sees Venkman, Ray slips out of Egon's grip and sprints as fast as possible to Peter.
It had been a month since he's seen Venkman but it felt like an eternity to him. He missed him so badly Ray doesn't know what he'll do if he can't hold Venkman right this moment.]
[When Spengler is about five feet away from Venkman, something makes him freeze up. He catches his breath, staring straight at him, his mind going a mile a minute. He's known this man for almost two decades. But not this Peter Venkman.
The brainstatic clears to make way for a single thought. Spengler forces himself to walk towards Venkman, placing one foot in front of the other. When he gets close enough, he grabs Venkman by the shoulders and kisses him right on the lips.
When he pulls away, he stares down at Venkman and clears his throat, adjusting his glasses.]
I'm sorry if that was a bit--a bit forward. [His face turning red, he glances at Ray before letting go of Venkman and stepping back.] I became--ah, overwhelmed.
Venkman looks up at Egon, eyes wide, huge grin plastered on his face, but before he can say anything or kiss Egon back he sees Ray barreling towards him.
And, ok, telling Egon that no, there is literally no such thing as "too forward" with Venkman can wait a minute, because he needs to kiss Ray right now immediately and he rushes for his other boyfriend-
And their heads just fucking collide like they're territorial rams trying to fight each other, but gayer.]
Egon barely has any time to react before he hears a painful-sounding crack and Ray hits the floor. He's immediately at his side, trying to pick him up off the ground and shaking him gently.]
Ray? Ray! If you can hear me, what is the square root of seven hundred and eighty four?
[why are they like this. In the meantime Faraday hovers near Venkman's face, making curious noises and trying to help him.]
[Concussions can be cured! He hefts Ray up onto his feet with Venkman. He then extends his free arm to grip Venkman's shoulder, staring at him and allowing himself to look at him, actually look. Even if he hadn't also bumped his head like his idiot partners, he still feels like he can't find the words to really convey the sheer sense of overwhelming...overwhelming something he's feeling.]
Are you alright? I'm sorry, I--
[He takes a moment to collect himself, trying to keep his tone neutral as he straightens up a little.]
[As soon as Ray's back on his feet and Venkman's sure he's not, like, dying, Venkman cups Ray's cheek in one hand and pulls him close to kiss him. He'll respond to Egon in a second, right now he needs to kiss this idiot. Who cares if they're both possibly concussed, who cares if anyone is watching them, he needs this.
He breaks the kiss to look at Egon, grinning.]
Hey, ditto, man. C'mere-
[He pulls Ray into a tight hug, his hands digging into Ray's back, breathing hard. After a moment, he holds out an arm, gesturing for Egon to get into this hug.]
[Egon hesitates for a moment before allowing himself to be pulled into the hug. He wraps his arms around both Peter and Ray and just stands there silently, gripping them tightly. He doesn't even have the words to express how much his chest feels like it's about to burst with emotion.
Ray and Peter are so warm.
He's just going to stay like this until someone says something.]
[Ray makes a small noise in surprise as Venkman kisses him. He's still slightly dazed so the sudden kiss is a shock. A great shock, mind you. It felt like so long since they've kissed and he's so happy and he loves them all so much.
Ray flings his arms around Venkman and Egon, holding the two close as he just bubbles over in joy.]
[Egon looks startled when Venkman grabs him, but that expression quickly fades from his face. He gently traces circles with his thumb into Venkman's back, and when he pulls away, he stares down at Venkman for a moment. He then glances towards Ray and says--]
We appear to be obstructing foot traffic.
[His voice wavers ever so slightly. A warm, genuine smile creeps up onto his face.]
[Egon doesn't move, either. He's too overwhelmed by everything to really...do much except cling to his boyfriends.
Faraday watches idly as the scene unfolds before her. Letting out a quiet huff, she goes to gently bump her head against Egon's shoulder, as if to say, 'Let's go!' Reluctantly, Egon loosens his grip around Venkman and Ray's shoulders, though he still rests a hand on both of them as he starts to move.]
By the way, I was intrigued by the picture of that nudibranch-like Pokémon you sent from the train. Did you happen to ask the trainer where they caught it?
[Any previous anxiety he had about speaking to this Peter Venkman has evaporated. It feels so natural speaking to him, and with Ray here, it almost feels like college all over again. The only thing that would make this better is if Winston were here, and who's to say that some version of him won't end up in this dimension?]
Spoke with them a bit, yeah- their slug tried to eat my food and we got to talking after they pried it away from me. Said they caught it around Cerulean City back in Kanto.
[Venkman scoffs, even as he takes Ray's hand in his own and squeezes it.]
We will have to venture there one day and obtain one for further study. [A pause.] If that is alright, of course. I have several other locations in mind, and currently, the one most easily accessible to us is likely the Goldenrod sewer system.
[Don't think he's forgotten. And he means 'accessible' as in closest, not easiest to get to.]
You know, now that you're here, you can finally partake in the research and experiments we have been conducting. Perhaps Slimer, Jr. can also be used.
["experiments" like "which type of PokéPuffs does Faraday like most"]
Cerulean's probably not the only place you gotta go to catch those things, but sure. I didn't get to pass through Cerulean myself anyway- took the shortcut instead. I know you two are probably wanna go to Mt. Moon eventually- or at least, Ray will.
